BARISTA LEVEL ONE COURSES
Level 1 training courses are eligible to everyone and no prior qualifications are required to enter Level 1 training courses. SCAA standards are introduced and used throughout Level 1 courses. «Beginning Level,» which, according to SCAA’s Definition of Levels is appropriate for the following students:
• Students who are new to the subject or skill
• Students who have little or no experience or knowledge
BARISTA LEVEL TWO COURSES
Level 2 training courses are eligible to anyone who has completed CP101 and CP102, although completion of all Level 1 Coursework and Level 1 Certification is recommended. Experienced baristas may take classes in Level 1 and Level 2 concurrently. SCAA standards are used and upheld throughout Level 2 courses. ‘‘Intermediate Level’‘, which, according to SCAA’s Definition of Levels is appropriate for the following students:
• Students who have some experience and basic knowledge
• Students who can perform basic functions and explain basic information
• Students who have taken beginning level classes
• Students who have basic knowledge and skills but are looking to learn more
ROASTING LEVEL ONE COURSES
The Level 1 program is intended to develop necessary and sufficient knowledge and skills pertaining to the workings of a professional coffee roasting facility, including proficiency of basic coffee roaster skills. The standards represent the underpinnings of knowledge and skill of the roasting professional.
ROASTING LEVEL TWO COURSES
Level 2 further develops intermediate and advanced skills necessary for Certified Coffee Roasters to excel in the craft of specialty coffee roasting. Skills training is organized into three distribution areas: coffee and industry knowledge, roasting science and practical skills, and sensory skills development.
