WORKING TOWARDS ENDING HOMELESSNESS WITH STREETSMART – OFFICIAL CHARITY PARTNER OF MICE2019
In 2019 StreetSmart will be returning as the official charity partner of MICE. The organisation was founded on the belief that everyone should have a safe and secure place to call home.
StreetSmart work hard to raise awareness and understanding around the complexity of homelessness, managing various innovative campaigns to raise funds for smaller grassroots community organisations helping people who are homeless.
StreetSmart seek out, support, and partner with these smaller homeless services through a unique, place-based community grants program. These smaller services are embedded and connected in their communities, often responding to gaps in service delivery with innovative programs – yet struggle for funding. To date StreetSmart have raised $5.1 million, funding 1646 projects at 552 organisations.
The campaigns that StreetSmart manage to raise funds and awareness have seen great success – with DineSmart, CafeSmart and StreetFunder collectively engaging with 900+ businesses and 100,000’s of people. CafeSmart is a yearly event that unites the coffee industry and consumers in combatting homelessness. This year, generous participant cafés donated $1 per coffee sold on 3 August, and coffee roasters supported their cafés with donated beans. 100% of CafeSmart donations fund grassroots projects close to where the funds are raised.
Founder Adam Robinson says his organisation’s ongoing partnership with MICE, now in its fourth consecutive year, allows Streetsmart to “connect with the coffee industry and key leaders – helping to build the CafeSmart campaign, it’s reach and community impact.”
