LOCALE ESPRESSO TO MAKE MICE DEBUT ON THE ESPRESSO BAR
Locale Espresso will be making their MICE debut on our brand new Espresso Bar. Locale originally started out as a side project focused on locally roasted beans, whilst the team were distributing coffee for a big international roaster. Josh Jackson (Locale roaster and National Manager) tells us more.
Q: How did Locale first start out?
A: We separated from the big multi-national a few years back, and a handful of coffee passionate team members stayed with Locale (pronounced lo-car-leh). We had a vision to take the brand to the next level in the specialty world and we’re pretty proud of how far we’ve come, now supplying coffee to around 100 cafes across Australia.
Q: As a first time exhibitor at MICE, what aspect of the show are you most excited about experiencing?
A: We’ve loved visiting MICE each year as casual bystanders but we’re really looking forward to getting involved and hanging out with the wider coffee community as exhibitors. It’s an exciting time to be in Melbourne when coffee lovers converge here for MICE and Melbourne Coffee Week. I like to talk coffee whenever I get the chance, so a room full of other coffee people is always fun.
Q: What is your go-to coffee based drink?
A: I’m definitely a filter coffee drinker. It’s my standard go-to whether I’m at work or at home on the weekends. I love the different flavours it brings out of the coffee. I’m also partial to an espresso or flat white every now and then.
Q: Holiday destination of choice when you’re not busy with roasting?
A: Anywhere and everywhere! My wife and I love to travel (when we can fit it in). We usually try and sneak at least one trip to Bali in each year, usually somewhere laid back like Ubud or Canggu to unwind a little. Wherever the destination, there is always plenty of prior research done into where to get a good coffee from!
Q: What is your favourite origin and why?
Q: So hard to pick just one, but if I must then I’d have to say Kenya. Very hard to go past a super clean and juicy Kenyan. Never get tired of them and can’t stop at just one cup.
We’re sure you won’t be able to stop at one cup when Locale take over the MICE Espresso Bar in a few weeks time – they’ll be operating the bar on Saturday 9 February to close out MICE2019!
