This week we talk with legendary Evoke Coffee roaster Warwick Shemilt and discuss inspiration, greatest achievements, café culture and coffee!

MICE: Who would you like to have a coffee with and why?

Warwick Shemilt: Procopio Cuto – Café Procope.

In 1689 Prodcopio Cuto opened a café in Paris. He spawned the café culture as we know it today, with an understanding that Coffee is not simply a drink but a social event to be shared. To drink and chat with him and his regulars, such as Rousseau and Voltaire, would be an experience not to be missed.

 

MICE: What inspires you?

WS: The consumer still inspires us, we love working with our Café partners to ensure we are bringing the best to market for their patrons and their café.

 

MICE: What is your favourite day of the week and why?

WS: Roast days – Are always the best days of the week. Whether it is Wednesday, Thursday, whenever, the intoxicating smell of freshly roasted coffee, is one we will never tire of.

 

MICE: What is your greatest achievement?

WS: Every time we establish a new blend for a café partner is our greatest achievement. Knowing we have created a bespoke blend that perfectly reflects our partners café and patrons is what we set out to achieve everyday.

 

MICE: What’s one thing people may not know about Evoke?

WS: That we aren’t simply just a coffee roastery, we cater to training needs, machine servicing, and much more.  We offer the complete solution from concept to customer.
